Advertising and affiliate disclosure

How CyberThreats.au is funded, including advertising such as Google AdSense and affiliate programmes such as Amazon Associates, and how we keep our guides independent.

Last updated 21 October 2026

CyberThreats.au is free to read. To cover the cost of running it, the site may show advertising and may include affiliate links. This page explains how that works and how we keep our guides independent.

Advertising

Pages on this site may show ads served by advertising networks, including Google AdSense. Ads are chosen and served by the ad network, not by us, and may be based on the page you’re reading or, where you’ve agreed, on your interests. Advertising networks may use cookies and similar technologies. Our privacy policy and cookie policy explain this and the choices you have.

  • Ads are labelled as ads and kept visually separate from our content.
  • We don’t place ads on our “Scammed or hacked?” help guides, and we don’t place ads where they could be mistaken for a download button or menu.
  • Showing an ad isn’t an endorsement of the advertiser or its product.

Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, CyberThreats.au may earn a commission from the seller, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate programmes we take part in, or may take part in, include Amazon Associates and programmes run by security product makers and retailers.

Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Pages that contain affiliate links say so near the top, before the first affiliate link.

Our own products

We may offer our own downloadable guides or other resources, free or paid. These are clearly described as ours.

How we keep guides independent

  • Commissions and advertising don’t decide what we include. Product guides explain the features that official guidance and makers’ documentation describe, and list products alphabetically, not ranked.
  • Facts come from published sources. Product details come from the makers’ own published specifications, dated, and we don’t claim hands-on testing.
  • No paid reviews. We don’t accept payment to include a product or change what a guide says. Any sponsored content would be clearly labelled as sponsored.
  • No false claims. We don’t claim a partnership, endorsement or approval that doesn’t exist.
