Microsoft has released its October 2026 security update for Windows 11 on 13 October. The update is KB5127648, and Microsoft’s release notes say it “provides security improvements”, with details of the fixed vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s Security Update Guide.
Who it affects
The update covers all editions of Windows 11 versions 26H2, 25H2 and 24H2.
Microsoft’s release notes also say that Windows 11 version 24H2 Home and Pro have reached the end of updates, and that this October update is the last one for those editions. Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest version of Windows 11.
The notes also mention that Secure Boot certificate updates are still being rolled out. Microsoft says devices without the newer certificates can keep starting up and receiving standard updates, and that it will keep delivering the certificates through Windows Update to eligible devices.
